GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that she was caused to fall at a civic center.

Melvina Skidmore filed a suit against Westwego Civic Association and United Specialty Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 26.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the defendant's premises at 1220 Avenue H in Westwego when the incident occurred on Aug. 1, 2015. The suit states that while the plaintiff was walking into the kitchen area, she was caused to slip and fall on a puddle of cooking oil that had been left on the ground.
