Man claims surgeon, surgical center responsible for alleged botched surgery

Medical malpractice 04

GRETNA – A man has filed suit against a surgeon and surgical center for the alleged improper removal of a section of his colon.

Todd Stipelcovich filed suit against Emery A. Minnard, M.D., and Crescent Surgical Group LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was forced to undergo a number of medical procedures in 2015 following a colonoscopy that found polyps in the plaintiff's colon. The suit states that the first doctor who removed part of his colon took out the wrong side of the colon and was purportedly instructed to only remove polyps.

The defendant is accused of breach of the normal standard of care through his failure to act in the proper manner or see what he should have.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Michael J. Monistera.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
