NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he was allegedly falsely accused of rape.

Gregory E. Cooper filed suit against Amanda Raines and Jacqueline Smith in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff and the defendant Smith engaged in sexual relations while stationed together with the Coast Guard. The suit states that following their break-up, the defendants began to report that they had allegedly been raped by the plaintiff. The claims of the defendants resulted in personal injury to the plaintiff, such as the temporary reduction in rank following a court marshall.

The defendants are accused of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and malicious prosecution, as well as abuse of process.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by John B. Wells.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
