Medical malpractice 06

GRETNA – A man with a prosthetic foot has filed suit against an orthotics and prosthetic company for alleged negligence when screws came loose and he fell, causing bodily injury.

Timothy Allen filed a suit against Innovative Orthotics and Prosthetics of Louisiana Inc. and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was the owner of a prosthetic left foot from the defendant. The suit states that the plaintiff's prosthetic was broken in September 2015 and was repaired. Then while he was mowing the lawn, a stud from the prosthetic broke off, causing the plaintiff to allegedly fall and suffer injuries. The suit additionally states that this malfunction in the prosthetic was due to the defendant's failure to properly secure the component.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failure to take the necessary steps to avoid such damages.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Mark M. Dennis.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
