NEW ORLEANS – A man alleges he was injured while working on a vessel after an explosion.

Matthew Boyd filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against C-Dive LLC and Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 26, 2015, he was working on the back deck of the vessel MS Kerci when suddenly and without warning there was an explosion creating a 15 to 20 foot wave that crashed upon the vessel, followed by a fire ball. In his recuse efforts, he alleges he sustained injures to his person that required medical treatment and resulting in pain and suffering, loss of work, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff holds C-Dive LLC and Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place of work, failed to provide adequate crew, failed to properly train their crew and failed to provide adequate and safe equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all damages reasonable in the premises, plus interest and costs and such other relief that the court deems necessary. He is represented by Derrick G. Earles, David C. Laborde, Jeanne M. Laborde and Andrew B. Mims of Laborde Earles Law Firm LLC in Lafayette.
