Delgado Community College student alleges she was injured in slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – A student alleges she was injured in a fall at Delgado Community College.

Judy Descant filed a suit against the state of Louisiana through the board of supervisors of community and technical colleges and Delgado Community College in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a student at the defendant's Delgado Community College property when the incident occurred on April 14, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on the tiled floor that was slick and wet from rain. The plaintiff claims that she was caused to fall on her back, resulting in physical injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly maintain the premises, failing to notify visitors of the danger and failing to take the necessary actions to prevent such injuries from occurring.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Jana Lindner McCaffery of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
