Shopper alleges sticky substance on floor at Essence Beauty Supply caused fall

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman alleges she slipped and fell on a sticky substance on the floor of a beauty supply store.

Shrie McKinley filed a suit against Essence Beauty Supply LLC and State Farm and Casualty Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on April 15.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer of the defendant's on June 3, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that as the plaintiff was walking in the store, she was caused to slip on a substance that had been left on the floor, resulting in a fall and injuries.

Essence Beauty Supply is accused of negligence by failing to keep the store in a reasonably safe condition and failing to exercise care.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Dominick F. Impastato III of Frischhertz, Frischhertz, Poulliard and Impastato of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
