NEW ORLEANS – Two tenants allege their former landlord did not return their security deposit or a month's worth of rent after the property was sold.

NOLA Commercial Finance Inc. and Andrew V. Reid filed a suit against Cesar R. Burgos in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 2.

According to the claim, the defendant issued a lease to the plaintiffs with the agreement that the plaintiffs would pay a certain amount each month for the timeframe specified in the contract. The suit states that the defendant, however, breached the contract and sold the property to another party, terminating the lease between the plaintiffs and the defendant, and after this action the defendant failed to return the security deposit and a month's worth of rent to the plaintiffs.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiffs are seeking $16,000 in damages. They are represented by Andrew L. Kramer of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Regina Bartholomew Woods.
