NEW ORLEANS – A Belle Chasse crewboat owner alleges a Texas corporation's offshore supply vessel damaged its property.
Abe’s Boat Rentals Inc. filed a complaint on Sept. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against WAS Marine Service Inc. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 6, it was the owner of an offshore crewboat Miss Wynter, which was traveling in the Freshwater City Channel, when suddenly and without warning defendant's vessel Capt. Stokes collided with Miss Wynter. The plaintiff holds WAS Marine Service Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to have a competent captain and/or crew, failed to maintain proper navigational equipment and to maintain a vessel, crew, and/or appurtenances which were reasonably fit for their intended use.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in such amounts as may be proven by plaintiff, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, all costs and attorneys’ fees and for all such other and further relief as may be just and proper. It is represented by Stephen M. Larzelere of Larzelere Picou Wells Simpson Lonero LLC in Metairie.
