NEW ORLEANS – A student claims that she tripped on a cracked piece of sidewalk while attending university.

Robin Hunter filed a suit against Dillard University, Travelers Casualty and Surety Co., Constitution State Services LLC and Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators Inc., also known as EIIA, and College Risk Retention Group Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 21.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a student at Dillard University on Oct. 1, 2015. The suit states that the defendant was caused to fall because her sandal became caught in a crack in the sidewalk. She alleges the fall fractured the neck of her left femur, which required surgery.

The defendants are accused of negligence through allowing a dangerous condition to exist without fixing it and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by David R. Fine of Fine and Associates in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
