BATON ROUGE — A father is suing an East Baton Rouge police officer who lives in Livingston Parish, accusing the defendant of sexual abuse against the plaintiff's minor daughter.

The plaintiff, on behalf of his minor child, filed a complaint on Sept. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against the defendant, alleging that the Livingston Parish resident sexually assaulted the minor child.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the police officer committed repeated sexual assaults on the girl, causing the child to suffer severe mental and physical injuries, mental anguish, medical expenses and psychological damage. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because for several years, the defendant allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted the minor child.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks final judgment holding the defendant liable for money damages, plus interest, all costs and such other relief as justice may require. He is represented by Frank E. Lamothe, III and Michelle P. Cumberland of Lamothe Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.
