Woman alleges uneven curb Magnolia Market Place caused ankle injury

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is suing a shopping plaza, claiming that negligence resulted in her ankle injury.

Carmela Parker filed a suit against Magnolia Market Place LLC, Magnolia Market Place II LLC, Michael's Stores Inc., Petsmart Inc., Raising Cane's Restaurant LLC, Ross Dress for Less Inc., The TJX Cos. Inc., Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc., Shoe Carnival Inc. and International Longshoremen's Association Local No. 3000 in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 25.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the defendants' shopping center in New Orleans on Nov. 6, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused injury when she stepped on an uneven curb and twisted her ankle, breaking bones.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by John A. Venezia and Julie O'Shesky of Venezia & Associates in New Orleans and by David C. Clement and Leslie J. Hill of Clement, Gates & May in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
