Woman claims she hit head on shelf while shopping at Family Dollar store

NEW ORLEANS – A shopper alleges she injured her head on a shelf at a New Orleans store.

Noris Alexis Lopez filed a suit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Family Dollar located at 2650 Central St. on Dec. 24, 2014, when the incident took place. The suit states that as the plaintiff was trying to avoid trash that had been left in an aisle, she was caused to strike her head on a metal shelf.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to remove the known hazard in a timely fashion, failing to inspect a known hazard, and failure to warn.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Arthur O. Schott III of Riguer Silva in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
