MONROE – A Bastrop woman alleges she was terminated by her Monroe employer for reporting sexual harassment by a patient.
Sheneka H. Hatfield filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Monroe Division against Bio-Medical Life Applications of Louisiana LLC, doing business as Fresenius Medical Care, alleging that the health care facility retaliated against her reporting sexual harassment.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she began her employment with the defendant as a patient care technician in 2013. She alleges she reported in April 2015 about sexual harassment by a patient, including comments and unwanted touching, and again in June 2015, but no action was taken. She alleges she was suspended in retaliation for reporting the harassment and discharged in July 2015.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award for all damages, attorney's fees, costs and for such other relief as the court may find equitable and just. She is represented by W. Michael Street of Watson, McMillin & Street LLP in Monroe.
