Woman claims chair at Jefferson Parish Housing Authority collapsed, caused injury

GRETNA – A woman claims that a broken chair resulted in her injury.

Ruth Wilson filed a suit against Jefferson Parish Housing Authority in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 5.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was caused injury on April 7 when she was sitting in a chair at the defendant's premises, located at 1011 Fourth St. Suit 203. The suit states that the chair that the plaintiff was using collapsed and resulted in her falling to the ground.

The defendant is accused of gross negligence through failing to provide a safe environment for the plaintiff and failing to inspect the chair for defects.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
