Archbishop Chapelle High School teacher alleges breach of contract after termination

GRETNA – A New Orleans teacher alleges his position was terminated without cause.

Phillip Berns filed a suit against The Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 13.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant at Archbishop Chapelle High School and had served as a teacher for several years. The suit states that despite providing exemplary work, the plaintiff was terminated without cause on Aug. 12.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Eric Oliver Person of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
