Woman alleges Maxhome LLC and New Bath LLC installed faulty shower

Slip02

NEW ORLEANS – A couple claims that a faulty shower resulted in a woman's injuries.

Eloisa Guichard and Julio Ortiz filed a suit against Colony Insurance Co., Maxhome LLC and New Bath LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 13.

According to the claim, Guichard was in her home on July 16 when the incident occurred. The suit states that she was using a safety shower that had been manufactured by Maxhome LLC and New Bath LLC and that the shower became very slippery, causing the plaintiff to lose her balance, fall and sustain injuries. She alleges the slip-resistant texture for the shower was not installed until after the incident.

The defendants are accused of negligence and for not warning the plaintiffs of the significant dangers posed by the shower's defects and characteristics. Ortiz alleges a loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiffs are represented by Ron A. Austin, Ramona G. Fernandez and Jeffrey P. Green of Ron Austin & Associates in Harvey.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
