A man is seeking damages, claiming that a loose headboard caused a head injury

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that a headboard caused a head injury.

Brandon Thomas filed a suit against Khan Properties Inc., Choice Hotels International Inc., Choice Hotels International Services Corp. and Nautilus Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 23.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the Clarion Inn & Suites located at 1300 Canal S. on Oct. 23, 2015 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused injury on that evening when he was struck on the head with a 2x4 board which fell from the headboard of his bed. The incident resulted in painful injuries to the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the bed was safe for customers' use and failing to maintain the premises of the hotel in a responsible way.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jessica L. Ibert and David A. Abramson.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case number 16-9568.
