Woman claims conference table broke, caused her to fall

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that a table collapsed and caused her to fall.

Mia Merrell filed a suit against Veolia Transportation Maintenance and Infrastructure, doing business as Regional Transit Authority, and Transdev Services in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 14.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the location of 2817 Canal St. on Sept. 16, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was leaning against a table during a meeting when it fell over and caused the plaintiff to fall as well.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by John H. Denenea Jr. and Brian G. Shearman of Shearman - Denena LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
