Man alleges negligence of The Schindler Elevator Corp. caused elevator to injure head

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that a freight elevator closed on his head, injuring his brain and spine.

Bernard Picot filed a suit against The Schindler Elevator Corp. and Zurich American Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 18.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was inside a freight elevator on Oct. 26, 2015, when the incident occurred. The elevator doors failed and allegedly fell on the plaintiff's head, resulting in major injuries and pain, the suit states.

The Schindler Elevator Corp. is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Vincent P. Scallan and Irvy "Chip" Cosse of the Cosse Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
