NEW ORLEANS – A police officer alleges he suffered nerve damage as a result of a delayed diagnosis after an ankle injury.

Cody Casto filed a suit against Ann M. Azucy M.D., Roderick W. Chandler M.D., Julie Lawrence M.D., and Timothy Finney M.D. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 12.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is a police officer and injured his ankle on Feb. 7, 2013, while on duty. The suit states that the plaintiff consulted Azcuy and Finney at Ochsner - Baptist Campus emergency department and was discharged. The suit further states that following his discharge, the plaintiff sought medical care immediately elsewhere because of pain and was treated by Lawrence and Chandler. The defendants are accused of medical malpractice.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Richard T. Gallagher Jr. of Gallagher Westholz and Potter in Metairie.
