Family claims that man's death was due to negligence of a medical team

NEW ORLEANS – A family is seeking damages following the death of their husband and father after a head injury.

Robert Youngblood (estate of) and Nicole Youngblood on behalf of their minor child, filed a suit against the University Medical Center Management Corp., doing business as Interim LSU Hospital; LaFourche Ambulance District 1; Lady of the Sea General Hospital; and Rhoda Jones M.D. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 2.

According to the claim, Robert Youngblood was admitted to the emergency department at Lady of the Sea on Nov. 15, 2013, following a head injury. The suit states that he was transferred to LSU for treatment of his injuries and died on Nov. 18, 2013.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Charles R. Ward Jr. of the Ward Law Firm in Covington.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
