BATON ROUGE – An Alabama corporation doing business in Louisiana alleges a Florida company did not pay it for its services.

Southerntide Marine Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Smith Maritime Inc. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 30, 2013, it agreed to solicit commercial clients for the defendant and to provide related services in exchange for commissions. The plaintiff alleges it is owed $1,018,350 for the defendant's breach of contract and $821,250 for its final invoice. The plaintiff holds Smith Maritime Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay the amount owed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in the principal amount of $821,250 and for such other legal and equitable relief as it deems fit and proper. He is represented by Robert E. Couhig Jr. and Jeffrey T. Pastorek of Couhig Partners LLC in New Orleans.
