Tractor-trailer driver alleges injuries after accident on Interstate 10 with Heartland driver

Semi crash 06

BATON ROUGE – A Texas tractor-trailer driver alleges he was injured in an accident on Interstate 10 that was caused by another tractor-trailer driver.

Lorenza Young filed a complaint on Oct. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Heartland Express Inc., Charles Anthony Spotts, Ace American Insurance Co., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 16, 2015, he was lawfully driving his tractor-trailer in Iberville Parish when Spotts, who was operating tractor-trailer owned by Heartland, negligently struck his tractor-trailer from behind. The plaintiff alleges the incident caused him to suffer serious and permanent injuries. The plaintiff holds Heartland Express Inc., Charles Anthony Spotts, Ace American Insurance Co., et al responsible because Spotts allegedly failed to drive in a careful manner, drove at a speed greater than reasonable and failed to maintain proper lookout.

The plaintiff seeks judgement against defendants, jointly and severally, for compensatory damages, costs of this suit, prejudgment and post judgment interest and for all other relief that the court will deem proper. She is represented by Brian Colomb of Domengeaux Wright Roy Edwards & Colomb LLC in Lafayette and Richard Warren Mithoff, Janie L. Jordan and Warner V. Hocker of Mithoff Law in Houston, Texas.
