Mid-South Mechanical Contractors Inc. accused of negligence after manager was allegedly struck by employee

NEW ORLEANS A North Carolina couple alleges the man was injured by a violent employee.

Larry Jones and Rebecca Jones filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Mid-South Mechanical Contractors Inc. and American Fire & Casualty Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on May 8, 2014, plaintiff Larry Jones was employed by Mid-South as the field operations manager for a school renovation project. He alleges he was injured after he was struck in the head by co-employee, Joseph Huval, whom he fired upon instructions from defendant's Mid-South owner, David Herin. As a result, Larry Jones alleges he lost consciousness, sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized for head injuries.

The plaintiffs hold Mid-South Mechanical Contractors Inc. and American Fire & Casualty Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently hired an unsafe employee, failed to properly train employees and failed to warn Jones.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants, severally, jointly and in solido in a full sum to compensate for damages, plus interest, cost for this suit and all other equitable relief. They are represented by Michael E. Lillis and Ravi K. Sangisetty of Sangisetty Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.
