BATON ROUGE – An unnamed Baton Rouge Police officer alleges he was injured in a Black Lives Matter protest.

Officer John Doe filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against DeRay McKesson and Black Lives Matter alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 9, he was ordered to appear and respond to a protest staged and organized by defendants. The suit states the plaintiff was struck fully in the face, was knocked down and incapacitated. He alleges he sustained injuries including but not limited to loss of teeth, injury to jaw, head and brain. He also claims he incurred lost wages and other compensable damages.

The plaintiff holds McKesson and Black Lives Matter responsible because the defendants allegedly conspired to violate the law by planning to block a public highway and demonstrated, protested and rioted to incite others to violence against police and other law enforcement officers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages, for litigation costs and for all other relief that the court may deem just and equitable. He is represented by Donna U. Grodner of Grodner & Associates in Baton Rouge and Denise A. Vinet of Vinet & Day LLC in Baton Rouge.
