NEW ORLEANS – A Mandeville subcontractor alleges it was not paid for work provided on a project.

Cheniere Construction Inc. filed a complaint on Nov. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Hamps Construction LLC and Hartford Fire Insurance Co. citing the Miller Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it was contracted by defendant Hamps wherein it would manage and partially staff the Trapp Canal Project. The plaintiff alleges it provided labor, material and services in good faith. To date, the plaintiff alleges he sustained damages of more than $700,000. The plaintiff holds Hamps Construction LLC and Hartford Fire Insurance Co. responsible because defendant Hamps allegedly failed to fulfill its obligation by not making the required payments.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in its favor for all sums that are due and owning, attorney's fees and costs, and all other relief that the law may permit. It is represented by Thomas J. Eppling, Craig W. Brewer and Ashley H. Boyd of Staines & Eppling in Metairie.
