Tourist alleges Bourbon Street beer parlor's bouncer punched him

NEW ORLEANS – A tourist alleges a bouncer at a Bourbon Street establishment punched him, causing injuries.

Justin Boyde filed a complaint on Nov. 16, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Taylor Smith and Labeauti Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 2 he was a tourist the city of New Orleans with a group of friends in connection with his upcoming marriage. While celebrating at the defendants' beer garden, he alleges was injured when he was punched in the face by Smith, who was acting in the course and scope of employment as a bouncer for defendant Labeauti. He alleges he was caused to incur medical expenses and physical and mental injuries. The plaintiff holds Taylor Smith and Labeauti Inc. responsible because defendant Labeauti allegedly failed to properly train, supervise and control its employees and defendant Smith allegedly recklessly disregarded the plaintiff's safety.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, for such damages as are reasonable, plus interest, cost of these proceedings, and all other equitable relief as seen fit by the court. He is represented by Joseph W. Rausch and Jim S. Hall of Jim S. Hall & Associates LLC in Metairie.
