LAFAYETTE – A Terrebonne Parish man alleges he was injured while attempting to evacuate a platform to escape a fire.
Shawn LeBlanc filed a complaint on Nov. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Allison Marine Contractors Inc., Allison Marine Contractors II LLC, Kinetica Partners LLC, et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 27, 2015, he was on a lower deck of defendant Kinetica's platform when an explosion and subsequent fire occurred on the top deck. As he attempted to evacuate the platform, he alleges was knocked down and/or fell on the upper deck. As a result, he claims he sustained injuries to his hand, arms, knees, neck, shoulder and head. The plaintiff holds Allison Marine Contractors Inc., Allison Marine Contractors II LLC, Kinetica Partners LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to provide adequate crew and assistance to safely perform the cutting and welding operation and failed to provide adequate fire suppression equipment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor for all damages that are reasonable in the premises, plus interest, all costs of these proceedings and all other equitable relief. He is represented by Charles C. Bourque and Joseph G. Jevic III of St. Martin & Bourque in Houma.
