LAFAYETTE – Three individuals allege they were injured when their vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer in Arcadia Parish.
Wilfred Davis, Karnisha Williams and Breonna Robinson filed a complaint on Nov. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Southern County Mutual Insurance Co., Berrios Transportation and Clemente Quintanilla alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in Nov. 27, 2015, they were traveling in a motor vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Arcadia Parish when suddenly and without warning, their vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer owned by Berrio's Transportation and operated by Quintanilla. The plaintiffs allege they sustained severe and disabling injuries resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.
The plaintiffs hold Southern County Mutual Insurance Co., Berrios Transportation and Clemente Quintanilla responsible because Quintanilla allegedly failed to keep careful lookout and failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensation for damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, litigation costs and such other relief that the law may provide. They are represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Patrick J. Eskew of Scheurmann & Jones in New Orleans.
