NEW ORLEANS — An African-American woman is suing Louisiana state heath officials, alleging discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.
April Farmer filed a lawsuit Nov. 17 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Dr. Cecilia Mouton and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, alleging violation of the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law.
According to the complaint, as a result of the defendants' actions, Farmer has sustained lost wages, physical, mental, and emotional pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, inconvenience and loss of professional and personal reputation. She was forced to resign July 18, 2014, the suit says, because the defendants subjected her to discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment retaliation and termination for filing an EEOC complaint.
Farmer seeks trial by jury, compensation for all damages, attorney fees and litigation expenses, plus all other relief the court deems necessary. She is represented by attorneys Jennifer F.
