LAFAYETTE – An Acadia Parish man alleges he was assaulted by a Crowley Police officer.
Clyde Broussard filed a complaint on Nov. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette Division against the city of Crowley, Police Chief K.P. Gibson and John Doe alleging excessive force, assault and battery, pain and suffering and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 23, 2015, he was arrested by an officer of the Crowley Police Department. The suit states he tried to flee on foot and was chased by an officer, who the plaintiff claims attacked him. As a result, he alleges he sustained severe and debilitating injuries to his head and body, and that said injuries were so severe they required multiple plates to be inserted within his head and facial area.
The plaintiff holds the city of Crowley, Police Chief K.P. Gibson and John Doe responsible because defendants' employees allegedly were inadequately and improperly trained.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages to be fixed by jury, litigation costs and all other relief that the court deems just and proper. He is representing himself.
