Family Dollar shopper claims she was injured in fall because of soapy floor

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she slipped on a soapy floor in a Family Dollar store.

Linda Bennett filed a suit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Dec. 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was in the Family Dollar Store at 2147 South Claiborne Ave. on Dec. 10, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on a soapy floor and be injured.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to place a warning sign and failure to properly inspect the area.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Richard L. Olivier and Stephen M. Huber of Huber, Slack, Thomas & Marcelle in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M Giarrusso.
