Couple blames Lumber Liquidators for floor damage

GRETNA – A couple is suing Lumber Liquidators, alleging defective floors were installed in their home.

Melissa Manthey, and Tristan Manthey filed a suit Jan. 13 against Lumber Liquidators Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging defective manufacturing and installing of floors.

According to the claim, the Mantheys entered into a contract for the purchase and installation of hardwood floors with Lumber Liquidators in April 2016. The suit states the plaintiffs paid the defendant $4,615.61 in full for the materials and labor.

The lawsuit says the Manthey property was damaged because the floors that were installed were defective.

Lumber Liquidators is accused of negligence through failing to ensure the quality of the items being installed, failing to take the appropriate actions and overall negligence.

The Mantheys seek all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Drew R. Ballina of Heller, Draper, Patrick, Horn & Dabney LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 768171.
