Customer alleges insurance provider never paid for vandalized home

NEW ORLEANS – A customer is suing his insurance provider, alleging failure to pay the plaintiff after his home was vandalized.

James Riley filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 against Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's property at 2303-05 Agriculture St., New Orleans, was vandalized Jan. 21, 2015. The suit states Riley filed the necessary documentation to his insurance company but the defendant has failed to pay for the damages suffered by the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to make the payments needed in a timely manner, failing to fulfill the duties as required by the plaintiff's insurance policy.

Riley seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney DeShawn Hayes of The Hayes Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
