Visitor blames social club for injuries

NEW ORLEANS – A visitor is suing a social club, alleging its negligence led to her falling and suffering injuries.

Lorraine B. Johnson filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 against Autocrat Social and Pleasure Club Inc. and ABC Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Johnson was at the Autocrat Social and Pleasure Club at 1725 St. Bernard St., New Orleans on March 20, 2016, The suit says Johnson fell down some steps on the property, resulting in injuries.

The club is accused of negligence through failing to provide a safe venue for guests, failing to inspect the property for safety and overall negligence.

Johnson seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Leola M. Anderson of Gertler Law Firm LLP in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
