LAKE CHARLES – An inmate alleges he was denied medical treatment at Allen Correctional Center.

Richard Hollyfield filed a complaint on Jan. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lake Charles Division against Dr. Jack Hurst, Nurse Jackson and Medical Administrator Justine Deville alleging negligence and denial of medical treatment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 13, 2016, he was being treated at the University of New Orleans Medical Center and sustained serious injuries when he was attacked by a resident. He alleges he was transferred to the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center Allen Correctional Center with orders for specific treatment, which the defendants are purported to have not delivered to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff holds Dr. Jack Hurst, Nurse Jackson and Medical Administrator Justine Deville responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to provide medical treatment for plaintiff's serious medical condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for all damages, plus legal interest, loss of earning capacity, litigation expenses, loss of ability to participate in normal activities and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Donna U. Grodner of Grodner Law Firm in Baton Rouge.
