NEW ORLEANS – A lead rigger/deckhand claims an unsafe condition on a vessel caused him to injure his lower back and neck.

Donald Harry Sr. filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Longnecker Properties Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 24, 2016, he was employed by defendant assigned to work to the M/V Marcel Bordelon, a vessel owned and operated by Bordelon Marine, when he sustained injuries to his lower back and neck. The plaintiff holds Longnecker Properties Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached its duty to provide a safe place to work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in the total amount of $2 million, plus costs of the suit and all other general and maritime relief. He is represented by Berney L. Strauss, Rhett E. King and Sarah A. Lowman of Strauss & King APLC in New Orleans.
