NEW ORLEANS – A cook stationed on a utility work boat alleges he was sexually harassed.

Wesley Bickham filed a complaint on Jan. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Phil Guilbeau Offshore Inc. alleging that the utility work boat operator violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 30, 2014, he was sexually harassed by several Vietnamese painters working for C. Morrison, all of whom were painting a pipeline for Williams Oil & Gas. Since reporting the incident and during the balance of his 200-day expected employment, he alleges he has gotten only intermittent work. The plaintiff holds Phil Guilbeau Offshore Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to take remedial actions to protect plaintiff from harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks punitive damages, attorney fees, costs and all other legal and equitable relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by J. Courtney Wilson of J Courtney Wilson Attorney at Law in Metairie.
