NEW ORLEANS – A St. John the Baptist Parish man alleges he broke his leg because of an unsafe work environment.

Todd Anderson filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against ACBL Transportation Services LLC and American Commercial Barge Lines LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 3, 2016, he was assisting in unmooring a barge owned and operated by defendants. The suit states a cable crashed down onto his leg, breaking it and pinning him to the deck, causing him to sustain injuries to his back and break right leg. The plaintiff holds ACBL Transportation Services LLC and American Commercial Barge Lines LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn him of the dangerous and hazardous conditions and failed to provide proper equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for the full and true sum plus interest and costs and all general and equitable relief. He is represented by John L. Young and Matthew W. Langenberg of Law Offices of John L. Young in New Orleans.
