NEW ORLEANS – A Mississippi couple alleges the wife was injured at a Slidell restaurant.

Lisa G. Hellmers and Presto Hellmers filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against The Dock at Slidell Inc. alleging that the restaurant operator failed to provide a safe passageway.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 4, 2016, Lisa Hellmers was an invited patron at The Dock at Slidell. During her visit at defendant's premises, she alleges she stepped into a depression adjacent to a wooden walkway, causing her to sustain serious injuries resulting in medical expenses, lost wages and physical and mental pain. Plaintiff Preston Hellmers claims he suffered the loss of service, loss of love and affection of his wife.

The plaintiffs holds The Dock at Slidell Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly inspect the ground and fill the hole, failed to warn its customers of the existence of the dangerous condition and failed to provide adequate lighting.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, costs of these proceedings and all other general and equitable relief. They are represented by Brian F. Trainor of Trainor Law Firm LLC in Covington and Charles M. Hughes Jr. and Ryan G. Davis of Talley, Anthony, Hughes & Knight LLC in Mandeville.
