Slip01

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a nail salon, alleging its negligence caused her to slip and fall.

Shawn James filed a lawsuit Jan. 10 against Cindy's Nail and Spa LLC and State Farm Fire and Casualty Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 30, 2016, James was a customer at the defendant's property, 1000 S. Carrolton Ave., New Orleans. The suit says she slipped and fell on recently mopped ground that was not clearly marked with a warning sign and suffered injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligently failing to provide a safe environment for customers, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in the management of the property.

James seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Richard C. Ely Jr., of Ely Law LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
