Worker alleges former employer broke agreement

GRETNA – A St. Charles Parish man is suing a contracting company, alleging he was taken advantage of in an employment termination.

Stephen Zelenska filed a suit Feb. 21 against Bertucci Contracting Company LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the claim, Zelenska and Bertucci Contracting were involved in an employment contract. The suit says it was understood that if the defendant terminated the contract before its end date, it was obligated to pay Zelenska two times his yearly salary, or $192,400. The suit states the plaintiff was terminated but Bertucci has refused to pay Zelesnka what it was supposed to. The plaintiff has made three demands for payment, the lawsuit states.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract and violating La. R.S. 23:631.

Zelenska seeks all sums due, plus $33,300 in penalty wages, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by Larry F. Demmons of The Demmons Law Firm LLC in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
