NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish woman alleges she was injured while shopping at a Walmart in Slidell.
Judy O'Berry filed a complaint on Feb. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 13, 2016, she was a business invitee and was shopping at Wal-Mart Super Center No. 553 in Slidell when she slipped and fell due to liquid substance on the floor. As a result, she claims she sustained severe injuries to her back, neck, spine, hip, lower extremities and ankle that resulted in physical and mental pain, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain aisles appropriately, failed to properly warn petitioner and failed to properly block off the aisle or area in question.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for such sums as are reasonable in the premises together with interest, all costs of these proceedings and all appropriate, general and equitable relief. She is represented by Thomas M. Discon, Charlotte Discon Streif and Scott G. Discon of Discon Law Firm in Mandeville.
