Customer blames grocery owners for injuries

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish is suing a local grocery, alleging its negligence caused him to suffer injuries.

Eugene R. Guilbeaux filed a lawsuit Feb. 16 against Lupo Enterprises LLC and United Fire & Casualty Indemnity Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 22, 2016, Guilbeaux was a customer at the Lakeview Grocery, 801 Harrison Ave, Orleans Parish. The suit states the grocery cart Guilbeaux was pushing became lodged in a groove in the concrete, causing the plaintiff to fall forward and hit his face on the concrete and/or cart.

The defendants are accused of negligently failing to take the necessary precautions to create a safe environment for guests.

Guilbeaux seeks all reasonable damages, court costs attorney fees and all appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Anthony L. Glorioso of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Melvin Zeno.
