Customer blames Winn Dixie for fall

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing Winn Dixie, alleging injuries from a fall.

Jean C. Barras filed a suit Feb. 23 against Winn Dixie Stores Inc., and Winn Dixie Montgomery LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on Nov. 24, 2016, Barras was at the Winn Dixie, 5901 Airline Dr., Metairie. The suit states she was injured when she slipped between aisles on an substance believed to have been melted ice. The lawsuit states she suffered physical injuries, mental anguish and medical expenses.

Winn Dixie is accused of negligently creating a dangerous situation and failing to remedy it, failing to warn of the danger and failing to properly train employees.

Barras seeks reasonable damages, interest, attorney fees, court costs and all equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Robert J. Daigre of Burgos & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 769364.
