NEW ORLEANS – A Florida man alleges his Houston employer failed to maintain a grease trap and that caused his injuries.

William Joseph Jones filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Rowan Cos. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 2015, he was employed by Rowan and was assigned to the Drill Ship Rowan Resolute when he sustained severe injuries to his lower back, buttocks, left wrist and tongue. He alleges he was cleaning an overflow from a grease trap when he slipped and fell.

The plaintiff holds Rowan Cos. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly maintain a faulty grease trap which led to repeated instances of leakage and failed to provide safe and sufficient gear and/or proper appurtenances with which to perform his duties.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, for damages as are reasonable in the premises, all costs of these proceedings and for all general and equitable relief. He is represented by Hugh P. Lambert, Caycee C. Peterson, Jacki L. Smith, Morgan M. Embleton and Brian C. Mears of The Lambert Firm PLC in New Orleans.
