Shopper blames store's negligence for parking lot injuries

GRETNA – A Sabine Parish woman is suing Hobby Lobby, alleging she was hit by a car in the defendant's parking lot.

Carolyn A. Kor filed a suit March 3 against Courtney L. Deck, Robert A. Deck Jr., Allstate Insurance Company, ABC Insurance Company, Hobby Lobby Stores Inc, also known as Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. No. 596, DEF Insurance Company, Elmwood Retail Properties LLC & its affiliate Elmwood Village Center LLC, GHI Insurance Company and Geico, in 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on March 3, 2016, Kor was shopping at the Hobby Lobby, 515 Citrus Blvd., Harahan. The suit says Kor was walking to her car, and a 2015 Honda struck her. After Kor reacted by placing her hand on the car, the lawsuit states, the car struck her again.

The car that struck the plaintiff was being driven by an employee of Hobby Lobby, the suit says.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to operate the vehicle in a safe manner, failing to watch for pedestrians and other obstructions and overall negligence in the reckless driving exhibited.

Kor seeks damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Jerome M. Volk Jr. of the Law Offices of Jerome M. Volk Jr. LLC in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
