Bank sues over unpaid promissory note

NEW ORLEANS – A bank is seeking more than $50,000 over promissory note.

Gulf Coast Bank and Trust Co. filed a lawsuit March 2 against Mel Mitchell III in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging sums due.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is the holder of a promissory note for the balance of $250,000. The suit states that the defendant executed the promissory note for the payment of a mortgage and should have been paying off the note in monthly installments. The defendant, however, allegedly failed to make the necessary payments and is now indebted to the plaintiff for the balance of $56,042.81 plus interest and fees, the complaint said.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Wayne Maiorana Jr., of Newman Mathis, Brady & Spedale in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel Julien.
