NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish couple alleges a Canal Street hotel's negligence caused the wife to fall.

Gail and Allen Guidry filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC and Marriott International Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 17, 2016, Gail Guidry was walking down the hallway at defendants' hotel when she slipped and fell on a puddle of water on the floor caused by a leaking pipe. She claims sustained serious injuries to her neck, back and leg. Plaintiff Allen Guidry alleges he has been and will be deprived of the comfort, aid, services, assistance and enjoyment of his wife because of the incident.

The plaintiff holds The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC and Marriott International Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care to inspect the ceilings and hallways and failed to maintain the pipe in good repair.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for $300,000, plus costs of court and interest. They are represented by George W. Healy IV of George W. Healy IV & Associates in Gulfport, Mississippi.
